PHFA partners with Senator Anthony Williams to help Delaware County homeowners struggling with their mortgages
Day-long event June 21 provides expert help from housing counselors

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is sponsoring a day-long event to help Delaware County homeowners struggling with their mortgages on June 21 at Yeadon Borough Hall. This event will run from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

This event is being led in partnership with state Senator Anthony H. Williams.

“The stress and worry about possibly losing a home because your hours were cut back, your investments took a nosedive or evaporated or any of life’s other bumps can be debilitating,” Senator Williams said. “There are so many people out there, suffering in silence, sometimes due to embarrassment or shame, sometimes because they simply don’t know where to turn. Our goal is to throw a lifeline.”

Delaware County residents whose homes are worth less than their current mortgage, and others who are struggling to meet their monthly payments, are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a housing counselor for June 21. Counselors will review their situation and may help negotiate with the loan servicer to make their mortgage more affordable. There is no cost for this service.

“The depressed housing market of the past few years has put some people upside down on their mortgage,” said PHFA Executive Director Brian A. Hudson Sr. “This full-day event in Yeadon will provide Delaware County homeowners with free expert advice that may help them keep their homes.”

Due to the anticipated heavy interest in this free event, homeowners are strongly encouraged to call in advance to schedule an appointment with a housing counselor on June 21. Space is limited. The number to call for more information about the event is 1-800-635-4747; customer care representatives are available from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays.

This event is being held at Yeadon Borough Hall, which is located at 600 Church Lane. Attendees are advised to bring along paperwork providing details about their home mortgage, including the name of the company providing the loan.
